Cowboy the rescue Border Collie is working out just fine.  He has become Other Half's best friend. Even if all he is doing is feeding the cows, I feel more comfortable when Cowboy rides out there with him because:

1) cows are big

2) cows aren't smart

3) anything that big and that stupid can be dangerous

Therefore, I always ask that Other Half either takes Blue Heeler or Cowboy with him when he does anything with the cows.

There is a bull with this group of cows.  He is a nice bull but he is, nevertheless, a bull, and I don't trust him.

Cowboy makes sure he is a well-behaved bull.

Cowboy insures all the cows are well-behaved.

He supervises everything from his throne.

So everyone is safe.

And when he's done . . .

Such is the life of a ranch dog.

Isn't amazing the wonderful dogs that are available as rescues? At this time ALL dogs in my household are either rescues or rehomes. One is my main work dog and I'm bring another along now because he is getting older. Another is a wonderful tracking dog and the rest fill in where needed. How is other half's new police dog doing? How is retired police dog doing. Hopefully Blue Heeler gets included enough so that he feels valued. Jan

Oli is doing quite well. She passed her certification test and is now his full-time partner. Retired police dog is enjoying her retirement. She is getting a little chunky because she loves eating and sleeping in the house. Blue Heeler has become MY full-time dog. He cannot handle OH's excited yelling when working stock. I don't yell as much, so I think he is as good a working dog as Cowboy. (maybe a little braver but OH objects when I point it out!)

Yep! I was right when I said that Cowboy was a lucky little dog when he wandered onto my sister and bil's place. Now he has you and OH for his peeps! Also, have to tell you that your blog has become a favorite of mine, both my daughters, and many of their friends! You are such a talented writer, ever think of writing novels?

Thank you!!! Yes, I'm in the process of writing a mystery novel now! Cowboy IS a lucky dog! He is so lucky that he found caring people who would doctor his donkey-attack injuries and take the time to try to find him a home. And we are lucky that those caring people found him a home with us! He is Other Half's best friend!
