Yesterday was a busy day, but we did it our way. Exactly twenty-six minutes before he was supposed to get married, Other Half was on the phone, trying to buy a ranch horse.  Twenty minutes before he was supposed to get married, Other Half was on the phone again, trying to buy a ranch horse.

In hindsight, I think we spent more time trying to find the perfect ranch horse than we spent planning the wedding. (and there's nothing wrong with that!)  The average wedding ceremony costs more money than a good ranch gelding! After a ceremony that took all of five minutes, the Justice of the Peace regaled me (and threatened Other Half) with tales of Other Half in the Ole Days, back when policing was a bit more like the movie "Tombstone."  (He has mellowed quite a bit!)

Then we raced off to do chores on the "other" farm, and I got sheep poop smeared on the toe of my Hideously Beautiful boots!  Grrrrrrr . . .

And then . . .  off to the Livestock Show!

Daughter met us there with a delightful wedding cake that she'd made!  Like our atypical wedding, the cake was perfect for us.

Look!  It's a little farm!  It has sheep! And a cow!  And a horse!  And chickens!  And a pretzel fence!  And she has altered her father's brand to include me!   (hehehehehe . . . I thought that was a nice touch to the ranch cake!)

And so in a 12 hour period, we got hitched, watched the sheepdog trial, watched the Cowboy Mounted Shooting, got tacos at a street taco wagon on the way home, did our chores, and then . . . watched the movie "Tombstone."

For us . . . it was a perfect day. Life is short. Do it your way.

Congratulations!! Sounds like a perfect day for all involved. Well, except for the Hideously Beautiful Boots.
Posted by CeeCee on 03/13/2011 - 02:31 PM the wedding photo and the cake! Just wondering what flavour it was..... And a big congrats to the Langfords!! And if that sheep poop permanently stains those boots, well it's a momento of the day:) Makes me thinks of our neighbours, whose daughter got married at their place. There were so many people staying at the house that the old septic tank backed up. So there are wedding photos next to the pumper truck:)

Congrats! At least he wasn't on the phone about a horse AS he was getting hitched. :-) Doing it your way created a lot of wonderful memories for later. And love Val Kilmer in Tombstone.

Congratulations on the lovely, perfect-for-you day, and best wishes to both of you for a long and happy life together. Don't worry, sheep poop on the boots is like rain on your wedding day -- it's good luck. :-)

Congrats! Sounds like a busy... and perfect... day (except maybe the sheep poop)! Love the wedding portrait--but I want a full-length view of those wedding jeans and the Hideously Beautiful Boots!

Congratulations! What a perfectly marvelous and delightful wedding! It seems SO much more FUN than the usual kind. It sounds like YOU enjoyed it a lot and that's the most important thing. I love the cake too. I'm looking forward to more photos from your wedding day (any dressed up dogs? horses? goats?)

Thank you Everyone!!! You guys are great! It was a great day, light on "ceremony," big on "fun." It would have been nice to include the dogs (Lily and Trace were actually waiting in the truck!) but we would have spent more time fiddling with dogs than actually saying our "I do's," so we decided against it. We'll do a "family" photo later of us with ALL the dogs. That should be exciting . . .

Congratulations! That cake is adorable and love that she incorporated you in the brand! The heart on the building is so cute. Best wishes on a long and happy life together!!!

OH! And Karen, the cake was a plain ole yellow cake with chocolate icing!

Perfect! What a lovely wedding day, and congratulations! The photo says it all, you are both beaming. And daughter that changed the brand on special cake? You must be very special indeed. Happy Eternity!
